Custom pet trading cards: how they work and why people love them

A custom pet trading card puts your pet on a real, collectible card, with their photos, their own stats and the quirks that make them who they are. Here is how it works and who it suits.

What is a custom pet trading card?

It looks like the trading cards you may remember from childhood, but the star is your own animal. Each card has a name, photos, four stat bars you choose yourself (Cute, Loyal, Chaotic, Spunky or anything you like), a short flavour line, and little extras like their favourite food, best friend and fun facts. The result is a pocket-sized keepsake that is part portrait, part personality profile.

Why people make them

  • A gift that is actually personal. A card of someone’s own pet is something they cannot buy anywhere else, which makes it a good gift for birthdays, holidays or just because.
  • It captures personality, not just looks. A photo shows what a pet looks like. A card lets you add what they are like: the bad habits, the best friends, the fact that they believe every doorbell is a personal attack.
  • Something to hand out and share. Cards are easy to give to friends, family, neighbours, vets and dog park regulars, and kids love collecting and swapping them.
  • A keepsake for the long term. Many people also make a card to remember a pet at a particular stage of life, such as a puppy or a senior companion.

How it works

  1. Build your card. Open the card builder and add up to three photos, stack them in layers, and drag to position them. Add your pet’s name, stats and fun facts.
  2. Pick the finishing touches. Choose a border colour and background style, add a Card note such as Pet Friendly or Ask to Pet, and optionally add a special badge.
  3. Save it and choose a pack. Packs start at 12 cards. Larger packs bring the price per card down, and you get 20% off the whole order when you buy two or more packs.
  4. We print and ship it. Your cards are printed on real trading card stock and shipped to your door. Shipping and payment happen at checkout.

What to put on your card

  • A clear photo where the pet fills the frame, or a cut-out “sticker” photo for the layers.
  • Stats that fit their character. Honest ones are the funniest.
  • Fun facts: favourite food, best friend, favourite hobby, secret power.
  • Your name and, if you like, your Instagram handle so people can find your pet online.

Dogs, cats and everything else

Cards work for any animal: dogs and cats, but also rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles and small pets. If your pet has a job or a story, such as visiting people as a therapy pet, waiting for a home at a shelter or living at a zoo, there are guides for those too.
